A dream realized. Sort of.

I didn’t even realize I had bought it. I just needed a portable (and cheap) means of music to have around while I did my workout. This morning my husband was checking it out. “Oh, you got a walkman.” I didn’t even notice that it was one. I just looked at the portable music thingies and bought the one that looked like it would not fall apart for about seventeen bucks. Now, this was an interesting moment, the realization that it was a walkman, cause my folks were super cheap, er, I mean good with money, er, super cheap.
Of course said cheapness enabled them to buy homes and cars with cash and put kids through college without loans, but back to my story. I couldn’t even DREAM of a walkman. Not even with straight As. Not with the lawn cut, the dishes washed, my room spotless. It was simply out of my reach as a young teeny bopper. I had to be content with the knockoff. And now, they are all up in the store for like 20 bucks. That too, I didn’t even realize I had bought one. I was just in a hurry to get some tunes to keep me going with my workout. One day I’ll spring for that iriver. or ipod. Maybe when they are running around twenty bucks a pop. I guess Al (as well as his siblings) will have a knockoff too until that time. Hee hee hee…

I think it is really cool that Jada Pinkett Smith is donating a million dollars to her high school alma mater and requesting that the new theater they build be dedicated in memory of her classmate, Tupac Shakur. I’m just putting together measly scholarship funds for mine, but I can’t hate.
