Last night we were going to go out to a few shopping centers and stuff to go trick or treating, but it was so cold and windy, that we brought it back to the house. After we came back, some of the kids from the neighborhood dropped by to trick or treat. They all had requests, well actually they all wanted Nerds. While I have no problem with giving em the small boxes of Nerds, shoot, I’ve been known to eat a nerd or two in my younger day, I was kind of put off by the fact that these kids were hitting me up for holiday candy WITH REQUESTS. I kind of looked at their parents, waved on the outside, and shook my head on the inside. When I went trick or treating, I was so happy to be getting free candy, I just took what I was given, and sorted it out later. I know we live in the age of people who give parties to hit people up for gifts and such, but I found it a bit tacky. TJ can’t stand tacky. Though some might think referring to ones self in the third person is tacky, TJ still can’t stand tacky.

And those were the little kids. The high schoolers marched out in 30 degree weather in their underwear. Yes, you read that right. They were walking the streets in their DRAWS. Not drawers. Draws and tube socks. I wanted to know where the parents were. Really. Cause somebody is bound to be snilffling and coughing today behind that hot, well, cold mess.
There were ninjas, skeletons, lions, tigers, bears, cinderellas, fairys, mermaids, but the costume that stood out most to me was a beautiful little asian girl dressed as snow white. I asked my husband why any girl of color would dress in a costume as SNOW WHITE in 2006. He said that she is just a fairy tale character, I was like yeah, but I can’t get past the name. He asked what I would do if our daughter wanted to be snow white for halloween. I said I’d tell her that snow white is imperialist propaganda. Then I’d tell her what imperialist propaganda is. Or something, but that name has always rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, I know a lot of white people, and none of them are snow white. That doesn’t look healthy, either.
