This morning I woke up to the sound of running water. Since I have a couple of preschoolers, my first impulse was to check the faucet, but the water was running outside. The rainfall sounded as if our house had been built under a waterfall. A small one, mind you, but a waterfall nonetheless. I surprised myself when I was getting ready for Max’s parent-teacher conference. Instead of reaching for some nice, safe neutral scheme that would blend in for the weather, I got cheerful colors made to reflect the sunlight. It made me feel a little better about the rain. After I learned a bit about the progress Max has made during the year – and the things we will need to work on this summer – I came home to more rain, planning and fun stuff like that. While I was looking at yet more roses for my garden next year, I came across this beautiful variety named for the Delany Sisters. It is beautiful and dainty in appearance, yet very strong, not unlike the Delany Sisters.
