I understand that some people are anti-war and anti-government. I also understand that part of what makes our country great is the fact that people have opportunities to express themselves that do not exist in a lot of the world. However, I do not understand why anybody would protest at a soldier’s funeral. Yes, there is usually publicity, but there is a family mourning the loss of a member. A father, mother, sister, brother or friend has been lost under violent circumstances. It is a hard time for anybody who survives this, and this is the time that people put up ugly picket signs insulting the government, the military and gay people? I think it’s disgusting. One group got sued by the father of a marine. At first he was awarded 10 million dollars, then the award was reduced to five million dollars, and then the ruling was overturned and he was ordered to pay legal fees for the group of misguided human beings who decided to protest his son’s funeral. Bill O’Reilly picked up the tab (and it is sort of scary to me whenever I find myself agreeing with him – tee hee).
