I don’t mind waiting seven or eight months.

I will definitely be going to this movie the weekend it opens, though it looks like that weekend will be in December or January. If I find an excuse to be in LA, maybe I’ll see it November 6. Precious is an adaptation of the novel, Push, by Sapphire and the trailer is stunning. Director Lee Daniels (Monster’s Ball) thinks the performances in the film could result in an Academy Award for Mo’nique and Mariah Carey. Yep, I said Mariah Carey, as in Glitter. The film also stars Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz (mmmm!) and Gabourey Sibide in the title role. It has already won the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award, and the Special Jury Prize for Acting (Mo’Nique) at the Sundance Film Festival.
