This afternoon I was driving home on a very busy highway when I received a call from my mother-in-law. She said that someone had called from Al’s school and that it might be important. I thought about calling the school myself and finding out right then, but I thought about how this train crash in LA that killed at least 26 people might be due to a text message the engineer of one of the trains was transmitting at the time. 26 people dead behind a text. Since I didn’t want to risk my life or my children’s lives in pursuit of a phone call which had the possibility of not an emergency, I waited until I was no longer driving to find out what was going on.
