I spoke to my mother this morning. She said that the storm had passed and was still dumping water on them, but they don’t expect the ten inches that the weather people were talking about. i’m glad. I’m kind of surprised that New Orleans is not prepared for the return of those who live in the city. Sometimes I wonder if the motto for the city is going to be a perpetual version of Hey, after Katrina, we should be glad to just be up and running. I hope not, but sometimes it looks that way. I watched the news yesterday evening and they spoke to a few people who evacuated the storm who are still in the area. One couple was still deciding whether to return, while another family was happy and thriving and had no intention of ever going back to live. It must be hard for both of them, having the memory of fleeing their homes.
