Yesterday, in the gym, I heard one of the most aggravating commentaries ever. All because I left my headphones at home. I will not do this again. TRUST.
I was going to warm up on the ellipticals, but I decided to go on the stairmaster, because they were full. There was this guy talking, and I could have SWORN that he worked for the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign. Really. At first, he was all like, “It’s not fair the way they are portraying her. She is really not that way. She’s a warm and nice person. I’ve met her.” I was working out with.my.straight.face, because that’s just how I do. I’m a listener. People say more that way. He went on to list a myriad of reasons that he could never vote for Barak Obama.
I am undecided in this election (but I have read a LOT about him – sometimes I think too much), but the reasons he listed ran the gamut from unfounded to plain ridiculous. I felt like jumping off of my stairmaster and walking up to the elliptical and asking him, “Why don’t you just acknowledge that you do not want to vote for a black man for president or you really like Hillary and preserve our environment from this HOT AIR you are blowing?” But he looked like a newbie, and I try not to discourage them. Plus I had a rhythm going and was not going to have bad vibes in my workout because of the uninformed.
Lessons were learned. Denial is not a river in Egypt. And I will NOT be forgetting my headphones again.
