This past weekend we saw 200 and 300 pound pumpkins carved, faces painted and similar stuff. Halloween is in the air. Orange and black everywhere. We went to the book store and wound up with a couple of new books for the kids (which explains why we don’t go to the book store so much as a family these days).
When you take a baby out, you gather attention, but the baby was thriving on it. He was working the little crowd that had gathered behind the stroller while we were looking at some pumpkins. Smiling to the left and right. I saw more gummy grin this weekend that I’ve seen in two months of life. He almost completely stole his sister’s thunder, who was riding in the double stroller with him. A couple of times she looked around like,”What the world?” But she was cool as long as she had access to her sippy cup.
Trick or treating or Halloween carnival? It is so cold (30 something degrees this morning) that I might have to stay at home and hand out candy or something, with legal disclaimers of course. I can see it now…
kid: Trick or treat!
tj: That’s all good, but I need you to sign this little slip of paper.
kid: mommy, what does indemnify mean?
tj: it means, that if someone at costco had a bad day and wanted to mess with your snacks, a sister won’t be parting with her house. now sign here *smile* Happy Halloween!
