Today was National No Phone Zone Day, a effort to bring awareness to and stop the problem of distracted driving. It is a good thing to sign the pledge, but an even better thing to make it a point not to talk on the phone and drive or text while you drive. Not even hands free. It is just not worth the risk that you take to yourself or to someone else.
Almost two years ago, I wrote about the number of emergency room visits that had skyrocketed because of people who felt the need while texting and everything else-ing. Two weeks short of a year later, I read an article that just made me give up talking on the phone and driving completely. Like I said, it’s good to make the commitment, better to just not answer the thing if you’re behind the wheel.
Next week is my birthday and while I’ll be a year or two over 31, I’m perfectly glad with every year I’ve got. Have a great weekend!!!
I was sorry to learn of the loss of Emily Post yesterday. She taught so many people about the importance of courtesy through etiquette.
We get another day of the Goldman Sachs CEO looking stupid as our Congress faces him with tough questions and comments… Goodie. Meanwhile, could somebody tell me the real reason the Republicans are holding up financial oversight reform?
Former president George W. Bush’s version of fourteen events that defined his life is due out in stores November 9. He’ll be talking about everything from his decision to quit drinking to 9/11. I’m always up for a good book, but since I think the Bushes have enough money, I’ll be getting it at the library :) .
Last week while I was at the grocery store I was pleasantly surprised by the newest flavor of Odwalla. All of the profits from the sale of its mango lime-aid benefit Haiti Hope. The goal of Haiti Hope is to build a sustainable mango industry in the country by supporting its farmers. The drink is very refreshing (sweetened with cane juice) and a good way to help Haiti help itself.
